Zolltor AI function in TariffPilot

From Customs Tariff Number to Trade Decision: TariffPilot Integrates Zolltor AI

The correct classification of goods in the customs tariff is one of the central tasks in customs administration. But what happens after classification? What does the determined commodity number mean for imports from China? What duty rates apply to shipments from Brazil? And what regulatory changes are expected soon?

So far, decision-makers have had to research these questions in a second step: separate databases, government websites, specialized tools. This takes time and increases the risk of overlooking important information.

With the new Zolltor AI integration in TariffPilot, this changes. Customs officials receive comprehensive trade intelligence directly in the classification proposal for their commodity number, without having to switch systems.

What is Zolltor AI?

Zolltor AI Zolltor AI is a specialized trade intelligence tool that monitors official sources from the EU, UK, USA, and WTO and structures the information. Developed in Bremen and hosted in the EU, the system analyzes tariffs, trade agreements, quotas, and trade protection measures, highlighting which changes affect specific commodity numbers. Zolltor AI provides executives such as CEOs, CFOs, and procurement managers with the information they need for strategic decisions. While TariffPilot ensures the precise determination of the commodity code, Zolltor AI provides the regulatory and economic context. Together, both tools form a comprehensive information base for informed customs and trade decisions.

How the Integration Works

After the classification of a product in TariffPilot, a new “Zolltor AI” button appears in the summary of the classification proposal. Clicking it opens a panel with structured additional information about the determined 8-digit commodity code, divided into four areas:

  1. Overview & Customs Tariff Details The complete customs tariff structure from the 2-digit chapter to the 8-digit commodity code, including all intermediate levels. It is also indicated whether the code is declarable.
  2. Tariffs & Controls A global trade control overview with EU import tariffs for the 20 most important trading partners, including preferential tariffs, import and export controls, and current sanctions.
  3. Future Tariff Rates (FTA Comparison) Planned tariff rates according to free trade agreements, including forecast year and specific savings per 100,000 EUR import value. This allows for long-term optimization of procurement decisions.
  4. Trade Trends & Current Warnings Annual EU import statistics by country of origin with growth rates, as well as a live feed with current warnings and regulatory changes from official sources.

Who Benefits from the Integration?

Executives receive the decision-making basis they need based on trade trend analyses and FTA savings calculators: Which procurement markets are still optimal in the medium and long term? Where can concrete cost savings be achieved through free trade agreements? These are not questions for customs experts alone, but for the entire management team.

Conclusion: Tariff Classification as a Strategic Tool

Customs changes, new free trade agreements, and geopolitical tensions are making international trade increasingly complex. Customs classification is no longer just a compliance-driven process. It is a strategic lever for the entire management team. With the Zolltor AI integration, TariffPilot makes this lever accessible: directly in the workflow, without system changes, based on official sources. The function is currently available in beta.
