Swiss customs tariff (CH) activated

In this release the Swiss customs tariff is activated as an additional tariff source. When creating a new customs tariff proposal you can choose directly between the German (DE/EU) and the Swiss customs tariff (CH).

New Features

  • Swiss customs tariff: Create customs tariff proposals directly based on the Swiss customs tariff (CH).
  • Tariff source selectable by all users: The tariff source selection is now available to all users.

Improvements

  • Clear labeling: The Swiss customs tariff is clearly marked as Switzerland (CH) in the tariff source selection.

Customs goods description in German and English

This release provides the proposed customs goods description in both German and English. New customs tariff proposals are generated in both languages automatically, and you can define a default tariff for your tenant.

New Features

  • Bilingual customs goods description
    The TariffPilot Platform now generates the proposed customs goods description and its short version automatically in German and English. Both language variants are available in the platform.
  • Default tariff for tenants
    Define a default tariff (DE/EU or Switzerland) for your tenant. New customs tariff proposals are pre-filled with this tariff automatically.

Improvements

  • Goods description in PDF
    Generated PDF documents include the customs goods description and its short version in the document language.
  • Training data overview
    The training overview shows the goods description in the selected language as well as a reference ID.

With the new training database, you use reusable, validated customs tariff cases for more precise proposals. New roles and upload options additionally extend how you work with the TariffPilot platform.

New Features

Training database: Training samples are created when you rate customs tariff proposals as correct. They are included in the AI analysis of new proposals and appear in the flow as a selectable option. Training samples can also be imported via Excel, released individually, and exported as XLSX.

Feature-scoped roles: New roles let you grant access to customs tariff proposals, classification proposals, and the training database separately for viewing, exporting, and editing.

Multiple files: When creating customs tariff and classification proposals, you can now upload up to three files at once and remove them individually.

Default direction for proposals: Set a default direction at the tenant level that automatically pre-fills new customs tariff proposals.

Improvements

More precise German translations: Translation quality into German was improved through a refined domain glossary in the translation logic.

Tariff selection in Excel import: For bulk tariffing, you now choose the target tariff system when importing the Excel file.

Swiss tariff rulings in classification

Swiss customs tariff proposals now include relevant past classification rulings. You can review the retrieved rulings and select a code as a classification position.

New Features

  • Rulings review for Swiss customs tariffs: The TariffPilot Platform finds relevant Swiss classification rulings for your product description and provides the tariff number, reference, section, and description in the proposal.
  • Select a ruling as a classification position: You can select a suitable ruling directly in the customs tariff proposal. The selected code and reference remain documented in the summary.

Improvements

  • Dedicated review path for Swiss cases: For Swiss customs tariffs, the platform performs a rulings review instead of a BTI review. This provides sources that match the tariff system in use.

With Zolltor AI you get comprehensive trade information directly in TariffPilot

TariffPilot now integrates Zolltor AI into the summary of each classification proposal. With a click on the new “Zolltor AI” button, you receive structured trade intelligence for the determined commodity code without leaving TariffPilot.

Smarter customs classification with ECICS integration

This release improves the accuracy and usability of customs tariff classification in TariffPilot. By incorporating ECICS chemical database hints and clearer product descriptions, users can make faster and more reliable classification decisions.

Key improvements

1. ECICS database hints for chemical products
TariffPilot now detects CUS and CAS identifiers in product information and automatically searches the ECICS database. Matching chemical substances provide hints that guide the AI classification process and highlight relevant tariff headings.

2. Short customs goods description for SAP
In addition to the full customs goods description, TariffPilot now generates a concise short description (max. 160 characters). This format is ideal for SAP and other ERP systems where space is limited.

3. Expired BTI indicator in search results
Binding Tariff Information (BTI) entries now display a clear “expired” status when their validity has ended, helping users quickly identify outdated decisions.

4. Improved classification guidance with ECICS evidence
When ECICS evidence is available, the classification workflow prioritizes tariff headings consistent with verified chemical substance data.

These enhancements help ensure faster, more transparent, and more reliable customs classification workflows in TariffPilot.

TariffPilot now integrates the European Customs Inventory of Chemical Substances (ECICS) to improve classification results for chemical products.

  • Automatic detection of CAS numbers and CUS identifiers in product descriptions
  • Helpful ECICS hints added to the AI classification context

This makes chemical product classification significantly more accurate and faster.

Smarter BTI Search and Ranking

The BTI (Binding Tariff Information) search has been redesigned to deliver more relevant results:

  • Weighted ranking that favors more recent BTIs
  • AI-powered reranking for the most relevant results

This leads to better BTI matches when analyzing products.

Data Quality Indicators for Tariff Proposals

This release introduces a new data quality framework for customs tariff and classification proposals, improving transparency and decision‑making during the classification workflow.

1. Data Quality Indicator

  • Replaces the previous job_state logic with a clearer data quality model.
  • Three levels are now used: Low, Medium, High.
  • Helps quickly identify whether the available information is sufficient for classification.

2. Visual Traffic Light Feedback

  • The user interface now displays a traffic light indicator representing the current data quality.
  • Red, yellow, and green lights make it easier to evaluate proposal readiness at a glance.

3. Improved Workflow Handling

  • Automated logic now evaluates classification results and assigns the correct data quality level.
  • Low‑quality data blocks progression until sufficient information is available.

4. API and Data Model Updates

  • API responses now expose data_quality instead of job_state.
  • Database and backend services have been aligned with the new model.

This release focuses on simplifying the TariffPilot API structure, improving authentication flows, and enforcing consistent package conventions across the codebase.

Web Search Controls and AI Transparency Update

This release improves transparency of AI‑generated content, introduces tenant‑level control over web search features, and enhances proposal summaries and model routing reliability.

1. Tenant-Level Web Search Control
Administrators can now disable web search functionality for their organization. This ensures greater compliance control and allows organizations to restrict external data usage when required.

2. AI Transparency Notice in Exports
PDF and HTML exports now include a clear AI‑generated content notice. This helps organizations meet transparency and documentation requirements when using AI-assisted classification results.

3. Improved Customs Proposal Summaries
Proposal summaries now automatically derive a clearer customs goods description from the final classification step, improving readability and documentation quality.

4. Enhanced AI Model Routing and Fallbacks
Model selection and fallback logic have been improved to increase reliability and stability when generating translations, summaries, and classification assistance.

🚀 Key Updates

1. Stripe Customer Portal Integration

TariffPilot offers subscriptions via Stripe. This allows customers to seamlessly manage their subscriptions, invoices, and billing information directly within Stripe’s secure environment, providing a much better user experience and robust self-service features.

2. High-Resolution Image Processing

The image upload infrastructure has been significantly upgraded to process very large images. This critical enhancement ensures the system can easily handle heavy files, which is required for analyzing complex architectural blueprints and schematics.

3. Enhanced Tenant Settings & AI Context

A new company information field has been added to the tenant settings page. By allowing tenants to provide specific details about their business, the AI can leverage this context to generate much more accurate, relevant, and tailored responses.

4. File Upload Clarifications

A new disclaimer has been added to the file upload interface to ensure transparency and proper data handling expectations when users submit documents to the platform.

The first major release of 2026 is here! While the turn of the year meant rest for many, we used the time “between the years” intensively to make your daily work in customs classification even faster, more secure, and more transparent. The result is a comprehensive update with significant improvements in performance and data protection.

Significantly Accelerated Tariff Classification Processes

Time is a critical factor in international trade. That’s why we have made deep architectural changes to our platform and implemented various optimizations. The speed of determining customs tariff numbers has been significantly increased, allowing even complex requests to be processed noticeably faster.

Transparent Process Progress

Trust in AI results is built on understanding. With the new release, we have implemented a progress indicator that shows you exactly what is happening during the creation of a classification proposal. You get a live insight into the various analysis steps that the TariffPilot goes through.

Self-Hosted AI Model for Maximum Data Sovereignty

Data protection is of utmost importance when dealing with sensitive product data and customs information. As a major strategic step, TariffPilot now uses a self-hosted AI model on its own servers for its core functions. This means significantly greater independence from third-party providers. The processing of your data takes place in a closed environment under our direct control – a clear commitment to maximum data sovereignty and security.

Outlook

This release is just the beginning for 2026. We are already working hard on the next topics on our roadmap: the further development of mass classification features and the final touches on export control classification.

The New June Release is Ready

Unified input for description, file upload and URL input

Separation between description, file upload and URL input has been removed. Now, all of these elements can be combined to describe the goods.

Dual Use Correlation Table

A correlation table for dual-use goods has been added. In the summary now the dual-use footnotes and numbers are displayed.

Additional Code Information

Now with the code for proposal, also the Code Number (German), TARIC code, KN code and HS code are displayed.

Preparations for the Next Generation of Agentic AI Models

The system has been prepared for the next generation of Agentic AI Models. This is not yet visible in the platform, but the groundwork has been laid for broader and more complex AI customs applications.

Further Adjustments

  • Further adjustments for the AEB integration, including a modular authentication system for integration inside of AEB user interface.
  • Added new AI models to the mix.
  • User roles can now be modified after adding users to a tenant.

The New May Release is Ready

Integration with AEB

The integration with the AEB solution enables the handling of complex tariff classification cases with the support of generative AI and allows direct transfer into the AEB material master. The combination of AEB’s comprehensive master data and tariff classification solution with the specialized TariffPilot logic creates real added value – simple, transparent, and system-integrated.

EU-Hosted AI Models by Default

The new AI models provided as part of the May release are hosted in the EU by default. This not only ensures compliance with European data protection regulations but also improves the performance and availability of AI-powered features for our users in the EU. If the EU-hosted AI models are temporarily unavailable, the system will automatically switch to US-hosted models. This ensures continued access to AI-powered features even in such cases.

Web search is now provided based on Google Search, ensuring better comparability with manual research.

ECICS Database

The ECICS database has been integrated to enhance the information available on chemical substances.

Further Adjustments

  • Selected BTIs (Binding Tariff Information) can now be reset if needed
  • The reference ID is now also displayed in the overview
  • CSV export available for both batch and single queries
  • Content-Security-Policy header tightened for increased security

The New February Release is Available

  • The revamped web search now provides more specific information for product descriptions, focusing on material composition, function, purpose, and other details.
  • Found websites are listed, and users can directly incorporate relevant information into the product description with a simple click.
  • The results of the web search are saved in PilotMemo for both individual and bulk classification, ensuring traceability.
  • The web search can now be used with PilotMemos created from uploaded PDF files, images, or URLs.
  • The web search results are displayed in the PDF export of the PilotMemo.

TariffPilot Algorithm

  • The TariffPilot algorithm has been upgraded to include the use of new, more powerful AI models that have become available since the last release.

Expanded Functionality

  • In batch classification, the name of the uploaded Excel file is displayed in the job name.

  • PDF files and URLs can now be read when creating PilotMemos
  • Textual goods descriptions are now validated by AI to detect missing information already during input
  • The PDF file name or URL is displayed in the PilotMemo overview

Mass Tariff Classification

  • When importing Excel for mass tariff classification, the content of the Excel file is initially displayed as a table.
  • After reviewing the table, it can be processed in the form of PilotMemos.
  • This ensures that no relevant information is lost during import.
  • Additionally an example Excel template for mass tariff classification is available for download.

Extended functionality

  • A new traffic light logic signals whether all necessary information is available in PilotMemos or further information is required.
  • The user’s language is now automatically set as the main language on the PilotMemo.
  • PilotMemos can now always contain a foreign ID to facilitate assignment to an external system e.g. to the material master.
