How is the HTSUS structured?
The HTSUS builds on the Harmonized System. The first six digits match the internationally uniform HS code. Digits seven and eight form the US tariff line to which the duty rate is attached. Digits nine and ten are statistical suffixes.
Who maintains the HTSUS?
The HTSUS is published and maintained by the United States International Trade Commission (USITC). It is applied and interpreted by the US customs authority CBP. The HTSUS is updated several times a year.
How does TariffPilot use the HTSUS?
TariffPilot supports the HTSUS. During classification, chapters, headings and subheadings as well as the notes of the HTSUS are taken into account. Matching CROSS rulings feed into the suggestion. Learn more about classification with TariffPilot on the customs tariff classification platform page.
