Export Controls
Export Control
Export control is the state supervision of the export of certain goods, in particular dual-use and military goods. It decides whether an export requires a license or is prohibited. TariffPilot automatically checks goods against the relevant lists.
Also known as: Ausfuhrkontrolle, Exportkontrolle
Which goods are subject to export control?
Not every good is affected. The focus is mainly on:
- dual-use goods, that is, goods usable for both civilian and military purposes
- military goods
- goods related to embargoes or sanctions
Classification is based on official goods lists.
How does an export control check work?
The goods are described and cross-referenced against the relevant lists, such as the Dual-Use correlation table and the military goods list. If a licensing requirement applies, an export license must be obtained before export.
Export control or tariff classification?
Both classify goods but pursue different goals. Tariff classification determines the customs tariff number for duties and statistics, while export control checks export restrictions. Both classifications can run on one data set in TariffPilot.
Export control at TariffPilot
TariffPilot automatically cross-references your goods against the Dual-Use correlation table and the military goods list and flags critical goods. See how it works on the export control page.
